Cornwall is well known for its unique micro climate that makes it one of the mildest regions of the United Kingdom. Not only that but being so far south, Cornwall also enjoys the most hours of sunshine averaging over 7 hours a day in July.
There are so many beautiful coastal resorts to visit in Cornwall that it’s hard to just list a few and being so long and thin means that most places are just a short drive from the coast. So, wherever you stay, it will be at most just a relatively short drive to the sea.
Whether you’re after a relaxing beach holiday, sightseeing or a busy sporting break, you’ll find everything you could need in the Cornwall area. For those looking for a beautiful beach you could try St Ives for it’s spectacular harbour, Widemouth Bay with it’s many rockpools, Marazion Beach and it’s view of St Michaels Mount and many others including Holywell Bay, Kynance Cove, Swanpool Beach, Long Rock Beach and Perranporth Beach.
If you are more of a sightseer then you’ll find plenty to explore in Cornwall, far too much for one visit. You could start at The Eden Project in St Austell and view the amazing botanical gardens. How about Newquay Zoo where you can see Lions, meercats, penguins and many more creatures. You could visit Lands’ End to see the very Southernmost tip of the UK. If you visit Marazion at low tide you can walk to St Michaels Mount and see the former medieval monastery. There’s so much more to see in Cornwall but some more suggestions include Trebah Garden, Tintagel, Port Isaac and Lanhydrock.
For those that prefer a more active holiday you’ll also find Cornwall has plenty to offer. There are two adventure centres based at Swanpool in Falmouth and Tolcarne in Newquay. Activities include sailing, surfing and kayaking among others. If you are a golfer then you can try Carlyon Bay, Lanhydrock, Mullion Golf Course, Newquay Golf Club, Perranporth and many more. Finally, we couldn’t take about Cornish activities without mentioning surfing and Newquay’s Fistral Beach, probably one of the best know surfing spots in the country.
